The Innisfail Mini Rail Club are a  group of people rallying to gain support and to have a model train rail laid at Warrina Lakes. This project is modelled on the Townsville Model Train Park who are keen to join us for run days.

Innisfail lacks any sort of family outing attractions where families can take the children and just enjoy relaxing family time.

We have a perfect venue at Warrina Lakes, already set with BBQ areas, pool walking tracks, amenities and lakes with ducks and birds – we just want to build on what the Johnstone Shire community has already and make it more attractive for families with their children to enjoy a day of fun.

Support gathered already has resulted in businesses in town pledging to build a diesel model train for the club and other businesses sponsoring the building of carriages. The trains will run on a 7¼” rail track. One member already owns a PB15 steam replica. People are very excited about having a monthly attraction for children/parents/grandparents using the wonderful facilities at Warrina Lakes.

We had a  public meeting on 14th November at the Crown Hotel Meeting Room, 7.00pm to generate more community support.  In partnership and with the support of the Johnstone Shire Council we will  build this rail track to provide a tourist and community family attraction for Innisfail.
